A Piece of Italy

“A Piece of Italy” is a deeply personal exploration of my Italian heritage, rooted in the southern regions of Italy. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes, architecture, and material culture of small Italian villages, as well as my grandparents’ homes, I aim to investigate how materials can evoke strong cultural and geographical narratives. By focusing on the rich textures, patterns, and colours characteristic of southern Italy, I hope to build a material palette that reflects the warmth, individuality, and authenticity of these towns. My upbringing was surrounded by "pieces of Italy" brought to England by my grandparents - ceramics, textiles, photographs, and everyday objects - each holding a story and a sense of place.
